Trenchless Technology is an advanced technique for replacing, repairing, or installing underground infrastructures such as sewer pipes and utility lines. Using a combination of advanced methods, materials and equipment, Coastal Construction & Engineering is able to complete underground projects with minimal disruption to surface activities and traffic. Two examples of Trenchless Technology are called Pipe Bursting (replacing underground lines) & Horizontal Boring (installing new underground lines) and Coastal Construction & Engineering does both.
Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting is done with a pipe bursting machine that goes underground and replaces old pipe with new pipe. Pipe bursting is a very important component for replacing broken or damaged underground utilities. When using the pipe bursting technique, only one hole at one end and another hole at the other end. It then breaks up the old pipe as it drills through and pulls the new pipe back. Its that easy!
Coastal Construction & Engineering always uses high tech cameras and locators before and during any of these underground operations. Pipe bursting does not disrupt the ground above. No more time consuming labor intensive digging and trenching. Pipe bursting is is used to replace damaged pipes for sewer, water, gas, conduit. It also is optimal for increasing pipe size.
Coastal Construction & Engineering can replace ¾ in pipe all the way up to 6 in pipe. Coastal Construction & Engineering can upsize existing sewer lines from 3 in to 6 in. Needing larger piping for underground utilities is very common when building a secondary dwelling or extensive remodeling. The city or county you live in will usually require it in order to pass your inspection. Coastal Construction & Engineering can literally plumb any underground pipes under your house, business, road, etc without disruption. Less time, no trenching saves you money!
City Requirements: The city of San Luis Obispo requires when building an ADU, that you have to have your sewer lines inspected. (Coastal can do this). If there’s any issue with your sewer lines, the city will not give you your final until you replace them AND your neighbors!! (Coastal can do the job). The reason for this is because broken sewer lines are detrimental to our freshwater supply and ocean water.
Is cost-effective because it minimizes the need to replace landscaping, sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas
Minimizes interruption to pedestrian and vehicle traffic and neighborhood activities
Supports speedy and quality repair and replacement to damaged sewer pipes, reducing the chance of sewage leaks, ground contamination and associated health issues
Simplifies sewer inspection and repairs, especially in those cities where local regulations require homeowners to inspect and repair the sewer lines on their property in order to obtain a permit for an ADU or remodeling and to close escrow when selling your home
